Sweet Glazed Carrots

This is my absolute favorite way to enjoy carrots! These sweet glazed carrots have a maple syrup, cinnamon, and butter glaze and are perfectly tender. I love recipes with only a few ingredients, especially during the busy holiday season. These sweet glazed carrots pair well with any holiday dinner – both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I am usually not a huge fan of carrots unless they are dunked in ridiculous amount of ranch dressing. However, when I started cleaning up my diet a few years ago, I knew I had to find a way to include this powerhouse vegetable. They are packed full of vitamins and antioxidants (more on that here). Anyways, I have come to the conclusion that I am not a plain carrot kinda girl. The good news is that a little butter, maple syrup, and cinnamon goes a long way!

Sweet Glazed Carrots

What make these sweet glazed carrots healthy?

  • For starters, butter is a healthy fat. In moderation, butter is good for you!
  • Maple syrup is one of my favorite sweeteners. It is free of refined sugar and is a real food. I love the sweetness it adds to dishes, without upsetting the flavors already there.
  • The primary ingredient of this dish are carrots, which seem to be a hard vegetable to convince people to eat these days, despite its known health benefits. Even though these carrots are smothered in this sweet glaze, they are still very nutritious.

How long should I cook the carrots?

This is really up to you! I have found that the sweet spot is about 20 minutes for tender carrots. If you like for your cooked carrots to be a little firmer, feel free to cook for less time. Use a knife to cut one carrot to test the firmness.

Sweet Glazed Carrots

Ingredients

  • 16 oz. bag baby carrots
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the carrots. Let the carrots boil until they reach your desired firmness (for me, it is about 20 minutes).
  • Drain the water from the pot. Add the butter, maple syrup, and cinnamon to the pot with the carrots.
  • Stir and keep on low until you are ready to serve.
