I try to keep most of my recipes very simple, with minimal ingredients and not a lot of prep time. This is especially true for these barbecue boneless wings. In fact, there are only two ingredients. That’s right, just two! I have always loved barbecue boneless wings, and while fast food restaurants have tasty wings, I really wanted to make a healthier version at home! These barbecue boneless wings are both healthy and delicious, all while being super easy to make.
What makes these barbecue boneless wings healthy?
I call these barbecue boneless wings, but you really could use whatever sauce you want! You could try buffalo, teriyaki, sweet chili, or any other sauce. The same goes for what kind of barbecue sauce you want to use. Pick your favorite! Primal Kitchen has some amazing sauces!
You could use any kind of frozen chicken nuggets for this recipe. I love Costco’s Just Bare chicken nuggets. Although they are not completely clean, it is a good alternative to fast food! They are antibiotic free, all white meat, and lightly breaded. And they are absolutely delicious in the air fryer!
So, what does make these barbecue boneless wings healthy? The quality of the ingredients is high on the list. The higher quality sauce and chicken you use, then the healthier it will be.
Method of Cooking:
I highly suggest using an air fryer for this recipe. I think that the air fryer crisps the chicken much better than an oven will. However, you can definitely use an oven! Just follow the directions on the package of chicken (they will usually have directions for cooking in the oven). You can even add a few more minutes if you like your wings extra crispy like I like mine!
If you are using an air fryer, I suggest spraying the basket with cooking spray and then crisping at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes is up, you should test them. Some frozen chicken nuggets will dry out if you add too much time. It is really easy to burn something in the air fryer! Feel free to adjust the time according to the brand of chicken you have or your crispness preference.

Barbecue Boneless Wings
- Air Fryer
- 2 cups frozen chicken nuggets
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (or sauce of your choice)
- Start by spraying your air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add the chicken nuggets. Cook on 375 for 10 minutes.
- Combine the cooked chicken nuggets and BBQ sauce in a large ziplock bag. Massage the chicken to coat.
